How TACOS is calculated
TACOS = ad spend ÷ total sales × 100. Total Advertising Cost of Sales compares what you spend on Amazon ads with all your sales, not only the ones Amazon credits to ads.
With ₹8,000 of ad spend, ₹100,000 of total sales and ₹30,000 of ad sales, TACOS is 8%, ACOS is 26.67% and 70% of sales are organic. The calculator is pre-filled with this example.
Reading the result
- TACOS is the number to watch for the whole business. Compare it with your profit margin before ads: if TACOS is higher, advertising is costing you money overall.
- ACOS judges one campaign. A high ACOS can sit next to a low TACOS when most of your sales are organic.
- % Organic is the share of total sales that did not come from an ad. A rising organic share alongside steady ad spend usually means ads are lifting organic rank.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate TACOS on Amazon?
TACOS = ad spend ÷ total sales × 100. Total sales means all sales, organic and advertised together. For example, 8,000 of ad spend on 100,000 of total sales is a TACOS of 8%.
What is the difference between TACOS and ACOS?
ACOS divides ad spend by ad-attributed sales only. TACOS divides it by total sales, so it shows what advertising costs the whole business.
What is a good TACOS on Amazon?
It depends on your margins and stage. A product must keep TACOS below its profit margin before advertising to stay profitable, and launches usually run higher than mature products.
